| Imagine a fall evening, a nice room, warm acoustic music taking you back to that trip to Ireland or Scotland, all surrounded by your closest friends and here's the best part, it's in your living room.
The concert experience I've discribed is known as a House Concert or if you are in the urban area such as New York City, it's an "apartment" concert. | |
So what's a house or apartment concert about well here are some thoughts to explain courtesy of a fellow artist and friend Carl Tosten:
A house concert is a fun and classy way to enjoy an evening of professional live music with friends and family in the comfort of your own home. You don’t need to own an arena or rent a large hall - the concert can be held in any room large enough to accommodate your desired number of guests. How does it work? Plan a house concert the same way you would any other party. It can be as simple or elaborate as you like. Book the date for the concert with Jim Goodin. Contact your friends about the concert. Typically, each guest is asked to contribute some money determined by the host to offset the fee for the musician. It’s a good idea to collect the fee in advance to guarantee an audience. Suggest they visit this website to listen to samples on the House Concerts page. Concerts last between 1-1/2 and 2 hours, often with an intermission - which is a great time to serve refreshments and socialize. Consider having simple hors d’oeuvres, a dessert buffet, or have your friends bring a potluck dish and their own beverages. Sit back, relax and enjoy a memorable evening!
